Sofa Chats

That Missing Peace

Heartfelt conversations exploring what it means to live a life of ease.

There's a kind of peace that doesn't depend on anything going right. Most people have felt it, briefly, in the ordinary gaps between things. The moment just before sleep. A pause between tasks. A walk where the thinking dropped away. The peace is always there, but it's often overlooked.

Every fortnight, Marcus and Lisa sit together with a small group on Zoom for about 75 minutes and talk honestly about what gets in the way of the ease that's already here.

You can ask about something you're going through, share what you've been noticing, or just listen. It's all welcome.

If you recognise the low hum of something not quite right, even when life looks fine on paper, the tiredness of always trying to feel better, or the sense that ease is something you have to keep arriving at rather than something that's simply there, you'll find yourself in very good company here.

Some have been doing therapy, personal development or self-inquiry for years and still feel like something is missing. Some have all the material things in place but feel like something isn't quite right. Some are simply curious.

A Sofa Chat is warm, unhurried and genuinely informal. Marcus and Lisa invite you to join them and a small group of like-minded people for an honest conversation.

People arrive with whatever is on their mind right now. A situation they're not sure how to handle, a pattern they keep returning to, a growing sense that their own thinking is getting in the way, or simply a question that's been quietly sitting there for a while.

Sometimes someone brings something and the conversation opens up around it, and what touches one person in the room tends to touch everyone, even though their circumstances are completely different. Sometimes the group simply wants to listen, and that's just as welcome.

If you're feeling a little nervous about joining a group online, you're more than welcome to keep your camera and microphone off.

Every session is recorded and sent to everyone who booked, so you can watch it back in your own time or catch up if you couldn't make the live session. Many people find they hear something different on a second listen when the mind has settled. The recording is yours to keep.

We know that for some people sitting together in person feels more natural than meeting online. For those who would prefer it, Marcus and Lisa are planning in-person gatherings later in 2026. Join the mailing list on the homepage to be the first to know.

When: Every other Monday, 7.30pm UK time:
75 minutes on Zoom:
£10 per person or couple

FAQs

Do I have to speak or be on camera?

Not at all. You're welcome to join with your camera off and your microphone on mute and simply listen. If you'd prefer to send a question in advance rather than speak up, just email marcusandlisafellowes@gmail.com and Marcus and Lisa will address it without naming you.

Do I need to know about the work beforehand?

No preparation needed. The conversation is accessible whether you've spent time on the site or have just found your way here. If you'd like some context first, the Approach section gives a good overview.

Is this the same as group therapy?

It's quite different. Marcus and Lisa don't look at your past or try to diagnose what's wrong. They look at what's been creating the pressure in the first place, in the present moment, in a real conversation. It's more of an inquiry than a therapy session, and considerably warmer.

Can my partner join on the same ticket?

Yes. £10 covers one connection, so if you and your partner want to join from the same screen, one ticket is all you need.

What if I want to discuss something private?

The Sofa Chats are a shared space, so while you're welcome to bring something personal, the conversation stays focused on what's there rather than the specific details. If you feel you need a more private conversation, a one-to-one with Marcus or Lisa is likely the better fit.

Why do you record the sessions?

So you can watch it back in your own time. Many people find they hear something different on a second listen when the mind has settled. The recording is sent only to people who booked for that session and is yours to keep.

What if I book and can't make the live session?

The recording will be sent to you afterwards so you won't miss out.

How often should I come?

There's no right answer. Some people come once and find what they needed. Others enjoy coming regularly and find the fortnightly rhythm helpful. You can book session by session, as and when it feels right.

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself and a cuppa. No notebooks, no homework, no techniques to learn. The best insights tend to arrive when you simply show up and let the conversation find you.

If a Sofa Chat feels like a step too far right now, a one-to-one conversation with Marcus or Lisa might feel more comfortable as a starting point. No group, no pressure, just a quiet conversation.
